Peter Enyeart, a graduate student from Dr. Ellington lab engineered TargeTrons for efficiently delivering lox sites to defined genomic loci without using selectable markers. He was able to demonstrate large-scale genomic modifications, including insertions, deletions, inversions, and cut-and-paste operations.

Dr. Roland Saldanha, UES Program Manager & Research Scientist, developed select-agent-compliant TargeTron vectors for use in Francisella tularensis Shu4 that permit rapid systematic disruption of pathogen genes and direct evaluation of the role of these genes in an infection model using primary human macrophages to identify potential therapeutic and vaccine candidates.
